Watson Simon
Watson has been a key member of the Boroondara Tennis Centre coaching team for
the past 9 years. During that time he has built a reputation as one of our most
popular coaches. Simon is a qualified Advanced Level coach and is involved in
a range of programs at Boroondara including junior and adult group lessons and
private coaching. Many
of our clients will be familiar with Simon from his time as a regular ringmaster
during our school holiday clinics. Simon also has a broad background in the wider
sports and leisure industry, having completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in
Health Promotion and having worked as an administrator and manager. Simon's
coaching philosophy focuses on combining the elements of having fun with maintaining
a proper learning environment ; "Tennis can be difficult to learn when compared
to many other sports. It is a very technical sport with a great variety of skills,
strokes and movements to be mastered. I believe it is important when teaching
a new skill in tennis that that particular stroke is "opened up" and placed in
a game based learning environment where it can be practiced with an emphasis on
fun.
